Destination 2040 Choosing Lexington’s Future

  • Steve Kay introduced a new idea in Community Development
  • Taken from the website: “The purpose of Destination 2040 is to craft a consciously chosen dream for our community that has the widespread support, quality, commitment, and follow-through needed to endure.” "How will we protect all that we value while continuing to grow as a community?"
  • Taken from the website: “Businesses and nonprofit organizations may serve as Destination 2040 partners by making two commitments: engage members and employees in two rounds of [90 minute] structured community conversations between January and June, 2008, and contribute to carrying out the eventual implementation plans, as appropriate.”
  • Steve Proposed that we, as a non-profit, take part in these “structured conversations” during our next 2 monthly meetings
    • We voted and agreed that it would be a great idea.  The meetings will take place during our regular times
    • TO DO: Come and participate!
    • We will still have the police updates at the beginning of each meeting.
  • If anyone is interested in being a coordinator/facilitator for this meeting, training sessions are being offered, please sign up via the website
